In many cases, unions in Europe have helped nonunionized workers whose jobs are precarious, according to new Cornell research. The goal of cancer research is to decrease the morbidity and mortality associated with this disease and in order to achieve this goal we must: 1) cure existing and invasive cancer, 2) control preinvasive cancers and, 3) prevent new cancer. Research funding can open the door to new opportunities: a summer research position, conference travel and the freedom to ask new, exciting questions.
